Wimpy Formal Response
Last year, a hoax email was circulated claiming that a man had been caught placing blood in the tomato sauce dispenser at a fast food outlet. Wimpy released an official statement at the time that assured all patrons that it had conducted a thorough investigation into the source and validity of this email and, after much consultation, the email was confirmed to be a hoax.

It seems that this same hoax email is being circulated again. Once again, Wimpy would like to warn its patrons and the public alike not to take heed of this email, as its contents is not substantiated in any way. The tomato sauce served in Wimpy stores is packaged and sealed at the manufacturer and the sauce bottles are not refilled in stores.

“We would like to assure all customers that Wimpy is committed to the highest standards of hygiene in its outlets and these are monitored on a regular basis. Wimpy would like to warn all patrons to be on the lookout for hoax emails such as these and to pass on this information to prevent further distress to anxious members of the public” said Val Bourdos, Managing Executive of Wimpy South Africa.
